Take two people performing exactly the same movement, as precise in one as in the other. One has truly progressed. The other has regressed. And in front of you, at normal speed, you will see no difference.
There are two ways for a body to achieve a good result.
The first is called calibration: a fine adjustment of how the body perceives and acts, an economical and solid solution.
The second is compensation: a workaround solution that saves the result despite a deficiency that has not been addressed.
The visible movement may be identical. The cost to the body, and the durability over time, are completely different.
So how do you distinguish them, since the eye is not enough? You push a little. You add fatigue, speed, an unexpected event. Calibration holds, sometimes even improves. Compensation, however, deteriorates, becomes costly, stiffens.
Constraint is your revealer.
This is exactly where our understanding of the sensorimotor loop comes into play, this constant back-and-forth between what the body perceives and the movement it produces. Identifying whether the body has truly recalibrated, or if it has been cheating from the start. A visible improvement can hide a compensation that will blow up in your face three weeks later.
We widely share this level of understanding, for free, because motor learning is a foundation that almost no one works on seriously. Our real job, the RNP, Neuro-Postural Reprogramming, begins when it's necessary to reignite what the body compensates for. We open this up to you with the introduction to RNP, offered for free.
An identical result can hide two opposing bodies. Constraint separates them.
