Discover Romain Katchavenda's inspiring journey to Neuro-Postural Reprogramming and his methods for optimizing athletic performance.
Hello everyone, and welcome to this new Labo RNP podcast. I am Romain Katchavenda, co-founder of Labo RNP and a physical trainer for over 15 years. Before this, I was an athlete in athletics, a javelin thrower. Like many athletes, I experienced ups and downs. Today, I will share with you how my journey has been fraught with challenges but rich in learning, leading to the creation of a training system based on Neuro-Postural Reprogramming (NPR).
My story begins on the athletics tracks. As a young athlete, I had a promising career with national and international medals, even representing France. However, upon reaching the senior level and university, the results were not forthcoming. Despite years of training, I faced a regression for 2 to 3 years before turning to other sports like rugby, and then returning to athletics.
These moments of frustration in competition pushed me to question the individualization of training. Why were some athletes, including myself, unable to perform despite considerable efforts? This question guided my reflection towards improving performance.
In 2010, I began a Master's in STAPS in Nice. In 2012, I discovered posturology through training, which enriched my thoughts on individualization. I was also influenced by professors like Olivier Poli, a writer on posturology and strength training. This opened my eyes to motor skills and motor learning, areas often overlooked in sports.
As I deepened my knowledge, I realized that every athlete is unique, with their own strengths and weaknesses. My mission as a physical trainer is to understand how the nervous system influences motor skills and to optimize motor learning so that athletes effectively assimilate the movements of their discipline.
Labo RNP was born from the collaboration of three physical trainers: Sébastien Zimer, Adrien Chartier, and myself. Together, we developed a training system based on NPR, combining archaic reflexes, posturology, and functional neurology.
Our assessment, which takes less than 15 minutes, allows us to detect the specific needs of each individual. This assessment is at the intersection of different disciplines and concludes with simple yet powerful exercises tailored to each person.
NPR focuses on three fundamental pillars: motor skills, motor learning, and human optimization. Every detail matters in the pursuit of excellence. As a physical trainer, I am passionate about developing physical qualities and optimizing human potential.
For those listening to this podcast before January 5, 2025, we are organizing a free online conference, "Assessment 2.0," where we will analyze movement through neuroscience. Spots are limited, so sign up via the link in the description.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to this episode. I hope my journey as an athlete and professional inspires you. If you are looking for solutions to optimize human performance, I invite you to explore Neuro-Postural Reprogramming with us. Remember, every detail matters in the pursuit of excellence.
