Discover Dimitri Juré's journey and his insights on rehabilitation, a crucial topic for athletes in recovery.
Hello and welcome to this new episode! Today, we have Dimitri Juré with us, who will talk about rehabilitation in general. Thank you, Dimitri, for being here. Could you introduce yourself, please?
Dimitri, 33, has a relatively classic background. He completed a bachelor's degree in sports coaching in Orléans, followed by a master's in sports performance optimization in Lyon. This journey included a specialization in physical preparation, mental preparation, and rehabilitation.
After his master's, he did an internship with the Women's Hope Pole for volleyball, where he was able to deepen his knowledge. At the same time, he worked with the International Ice Dance Academy in Lyon, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with high-level athletes.
Following his experiences, Dimitri was contacted by a Lyon-based company to conduct research on return-to-sport protocols. He developed a series of tests on the shoulder aimed at supporting athletes after an injury. His work focused on concrete protocols applicable on the field, in collaboration with a leading orthopedic center.
Dimitri explains that the most common shoulder injuries, especially in sports like volleyball and judo, are often related to trauma or overuse pathologies. He has particularly studied anterior shoulder instability, especially in athletes who have undergone surgery.
Dimitri emphasizes the importance of the relationship between the physiotherapist and the physical trainer. Before starting rehabilitation, it is crucial to perform a complete assessment of the athlete, considering all aspects, including the lower limbs and trunk, as shoulder rehabilitation should not be isolated.
During the assessment, it is essential to evaluate the athlete's stability, mobility, endurance, and explosiveness. The idea is to determine whether the athlete is fit to resume physical activity, then guide them towards a return to performance specific to their sport.
In conclusion, Dimitri encourages professionals to develop their network and collaborate with other practitioners in the interest of athletes. He is also active on Instagram and LinkedIn and has written a book on shoulder rehabilitation, scheduled for release in 2025 by For Trainer editions.
