Discover how data, performance, and physical preparation interact to optimize athletes' results, featuring Quentin Bourret.
In this episode, we explore the connection between data, performance, breathing, and muscles. How can we observe and quantify our daily lives by combining neuropostural reprogramming and practical applications? To discuss this, we welcome Quentin Bourret, a physical trainer and student at the RNP lab.
Hello everyone, I'm Quentin Bourret. I work as a physical trainer with athletes in various sports. I have a rich background in CrossFit, having started in 2014. Since 2021, I've delved into the scientific aspects of performance, investing in oxygen sensors like Moxy monitors to better understand cardiovascular control and its link to the vestibular system.
I have set up tests to determine what works in terms of stimulation. Drawing from the teachings of the RNP lab, I tested high-performance exercises, assuming they would have a positive impact on my performance during a CrossFit WOD (Workout of the Day).
The output includes all motor, cognitive, and emotional outputs created by the brain. This can be measured through flexibility, mobility, strength, explosiveness, or balance tests. My goal was to assess the impact of these stimulations on my performance.
Moxy monitors measure muscle oxygenation using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). These sensors detect the percentage of oxygen in hemoglobin, informing us about the supply and demand for oxygen during exertion. I observed that less oxygen was used after stimulations, indicating a movement economy.
This data analysis work is essential. I firmly believe that each sensor has its advantages, and it is crucial to find non-invasive tools that provide reliable data. For example, using force platforms and VBT (Velocity-Based Training) allows us to collect precise data over time.
It is important to note that data must be collected regularly to avoid biases. By analyzing data over the long term, we can objectify our hypotheses and better understand individual performances.
In conclusion, I encourage everyone to experiment with their own case studies in the field. By sharing our knowledge and collecting data, we can advance the community. Thank you all for listening! If you have any questions, you can find me on social media under the name Quentin Bourret or at Paradigm Shift Lab.
