Discover practical advice on back pain from Baptiste Jannic, a fitness coach, and learn how to address the root causes.
Hello and welcome! Today, we will address a topic that affects many of us: back pain. To discuss this, we are pleased to welcome Baptiste Jannic. Hi Baptiste!
Baptiste, 37, lives in Drôme. He has been a fitness coach for just over a year, specializing in neuropostural reprogramming. A large portion of his clients suffer from back pain, which is why we chose this topic today.
Back pain is a recurring complaint. Often, the pain manifests in the lower back, but it is essential to understand that the pain can originate from other areas, such as the hips or upper back.
Baptiste emphasizes an important phrase: "Your back is not your problem, it's your solution." When the back is painful, it is often because it is compensating for the work of other muscles, particularly those in the hips. Many coaches recommend stretching to relieve back pain, but it is crucial to target the true cause of the pain.
Stretching can provide temporary relief, but it is essential to understand that the body reacts based on its needs. Baptiste discusses the importance of finding the right exercise for each individual. For example, some clients may benefit from stretching, while others may need strengthening exercises.
It is important to tailor exercises according to the specific needs of each client. Baptiste shares an experience with a football player, where tests helped identify areas to work on to reduce pain. Listening to the body and adjusting exercises is paramount.
For those suffering from back pain, Baptiste recommends a simple proprioception exercise: trying to move the upper back independently of the lower back. This exercise can help restore mobility and provide immediate comfort.
