Discover the journey of Janice Thebault, a physiotherapist specialized in neurology and rugby, and her insights on the development of women's sports.
In this podcast, we are pleased to welcome Janice Thebault, a physiotherapist passionate about women's rugby and neurology. She shares her experience and her role within ASM Romagnat, a team that competes at a high level in women's rugby in France.
Janice graduated from the Vichy School of Physiotherapy and works in Clermont-Ferrand. She is involved in two organizations: a rehabilitation center and the SM Omnisport Sports Association. Since graduating, she has been taking care of the rugby team, starting with the cadets and continuing with the women's team of ASM Romagnat.
At ASM, Janice works in a medical office where physiotherapists and sports doctors are present every evening. Her role involves treating the association's licensed athletes, providing care tailored to the needs of athletes, including physiotherapy sessions for various common sports injuries.
Janice discusses the various injuries she encounters in her daily practice. Among these, ligament injuries are common, especially in pivot sports like football and basketball. Muscle injuries and trauma related to combat sports are also frequent.
Janice emphasizes the importance of tailored and precise rehabilitation. With her training in neurology, she can introduce specific exercises that help athletes recover better, taking into account their level and individual needs.
Janice recently completed her training in neurology, which has allowed her to enhance her practice. She explains how this approach enables her to better understand athletes' movements and adapt her care based on each individual's specific needs.
In her office, she conducts quick assessments to identify athletes' specific issues. She then proposes tailored exercises to improve their physical condition and prevent future injuries.
Janice concludes by sharing a valuable piece of advice for athletes: take the time to reflect on their overall well-being. She encourages introspection to better understand their bodies and needs, emphasizing that this awareness is essential for injury prevention.
To learn more about her work, Janice is active on social media and within ASM Romagnat. Thank you for listening, and see you soon for a new episode!
